About

Mark & Kodi at Crufts 2007

UpAndOver was established in 1995 and over the years has grown to be one of the most successful dog agility clubs in the UK. We have excellent trainers assisting us teaching groups ranging from beginners to advanced competition dogs.

Mark & Karen Laker have been training and competing in dog agility for over 25 years. During this time we've built up a very successful group of members, made great friends and had lots of fun training and competing with our dogs.

Today we train at two venues in Hampshire: - Hurstbourne Equestrian Centre, Hurstbourne Priors, Nr Whitchurch, Hampshire, UK, and, Over Wallop, Hampshire, UK. Both these venues offer excellent all year round indoor agility training facilities.

If you're interested in trying dog agility we offer Introductory courses that gives you and your dog a chance to try out agility without having to make a long term commitment.

From here you can progress to our structured weekly training classes to help you reach your goals, whether that's a casual agility handler or a serious competitor.

To join our waiting list please complete our on-line application form and we'll send you details of available courses.

Occasionally we have places for experienced agility dogs to join us. Using our experience and knowledge of agility and latest training techniques we can offer: -

  • Course handling skills
  • Training and advice on competition
  • Workshops on Contact training
  • Dog and handler fitness
  • One to one training sessions
  • Spsorts coaching
Please contact us for more details.

UpAndOver Trainers

We are very fortunate to have some excellent trainers working with us who all help to make UpAndOver such a successful club.

Michelle Spencer
I found UpAndOver Agility Dogs 5 years ago and itsMichelle and Fletcher  been a rollercoaster ride!

I started with my
brilliant GSD, Fletcher, both of us complete beginners
and no idea how much it would change our lives!  A
hobby soon became an obsession and having never
thought about competing, we found ourselves at our
first show a year after we started training.  We went
on to win out of elementary in our first year, out of starters in our second and ending up in grade 4.  We had a fantastic time, away somewhere different every weekend with other club members, sharing our successes and our eliminations!

Sadly, Fletcher passed away last year, but his legacy lives on with my young GSD, Cooper.  I'm so very excited about competing with him in the future, can't wait to get back to the ABC classes and have spent a lot of time on his foundation
training.  He is a character and we have a great
partnership already.

Michelle & MaverickThis year, I started competing with my gorgeous
Collie, Maverick.  Mav is a beautiful dog who is a real mummy's boy and loves agility.  He has had a brilliant first season, teaching me as much as I have
taught him.  We've developed a great working partnership and are looking forward to next year
already.

With the advantage of a solid foundation in agility training, I am very excited about the future.  My fellow agility friends, watch out !!

I'm lucky to have found Mark and Karen and their club
and my successes are down to their dedication,
experience and knowledge of the sport.  They have taught me everything and I am only too glad to share that with others.

Being asked to instruct at their club is something I do with pleasure and having the advantage of their continued training, I know I am passing on the best training out there and enjoy watching everyone learn and have fun at the same time.

Fifo Martin

Fifo and her Dogs Teaching part-time and with two border collies, I decided to try Agility.  Meg and I immediately loved it and were soon signed up to become regular Tuesday evening members of the club.  After a year of training we entered our first competitions and in our second season moved up from Beginners to the Novice class.  With a very 'herdy' dog it has been an interesting and challenging experience and one that has taught me so much about dogs, training, psychology and the sport of Agility.

Fifo & MegAt the end of my second year with the club I was thrilled to be invited to be an instructor.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my first two classes of beginners and have such fun training with them each week.  Since then I have entered more competitions, organised the Christmas party and the club's participation at the Andover Dog Day, all of which have been great opportunities to get to know everyone at the club better and promote the sport of Agility.  The more you put in, the more you get out, and Agility is now such a big part of my life I wonder what I ever did without it!

UpAndOver Training Classes

Our club night is set up for structured training. Dogs and handlers train in groups of similar standard. This means training is aimed at their ability but also pushes them on.

Training starts at 7:30 for the first three groups of the evening and 8:30 for the next groups. Tuesday nights are busy. There are over 50 dogs booked in to our current groups, although each group is limited to a maximum of 10 dogs.
